Ep. 6 Meet The Drivers - Lizzy Mentier

Ep. 6 Meet The Drivers - Lizzy Mentier

This week we are talking to Lizzy Mentier, a Junior Rotax karter from Marske. Lizzy has demonstrated she is a force to be reckoned with and is certainly making a name for herself...

C1RCUIT: Hello Lizzy, can you tell us a bit more about yourself?

Lizzy: Hi my name is Lizzy, I am 13 years old and I’ve been karting since I was 9years old. I live in a small town called Marske with my Mum and Dad and 2 sausage dogs Biscuit & Beryl.

C1RCUIT: What first attracted you to Karting?

Lizzy: I was first attracted to karting after I went to my local kart track at Teeside with my dad and went on the hire karts. Then a month later I got my own kart for Christmas.

I also had a PW50 motorbike at the age of 3 so I’ve always enjoyed motorsports.

C1RCUIT: What is it about karting that you enjoy the most?

Lizzy: I love the speed in my kart, especially when I win a race . It’s sometimes a bit nerve wracking but super exciting as the same time.

C1RCUIT: Who inspires you to get on track and succeed?

Lizzy: My Dad inspires me the most to get out there and do well. My Dad used to race motorbikes and also worked for a World Superbike Team. My Dad was Eugene Laverty’s mechanic and that’s where my race number 50 came from.

C1RCUIT: What is your favourite memory on track so far?

Lizzy: I have lots of great memories on track but I do think my last race in the UKC at Three Sisters is definitely my favourite so far. To get P3 in the Super Final was just awesome but then to be chosen as Driver of the Weekend and win an amazing c1rcuit racer x1 watch was the best feeling ever

C1RCUIT: Which is your favourite motorsport series you enjoy watching?

Lizzy: I love watching the F1 but I also used to love watching the MotoGP with my Dad and cheering on Valentino Rossi

C1RCUIT: What is your ultimate ambition you’d like to achieve in motorsport?

Lizzy: My ultimate ambition in motorsport is to one day get to F1 but also to show other females that anything is possible to achieve if you put your mind to it and work hard. Karting is a male dominated sport so to be in there mixing it up with the boys is amazing

C1RCUIT: And finally, where can we see you racing for the remainder of 2023?

Lizzy: For the remainder of 2023 I will be competing in UKC, British Kart Championship, PFI Championship.

C1RCUIT: Thank you so much for your time, Lizzy, and best of luck for the rest of the season.

Lizzy: Thank you.
