Continuing with our support of Grassroots Motorsport we interview Melissa Adrian. Melissa was our first ever Driver Of The Weekend at Round 1 of The Kart Championship back in March. Melissa had a tough time in the heats but showed huge resilience to bounce back in the final making up 14 places and setting the fastest lap, almost 4ths quicker than anybody else!
We took time out to speak with this Junior Rotax peddler...
Interviewer: Hello Melissa, can you tell us a bit more about yourself?
Melissa: Hi, my name is Melissa Adrian, I'm 12 years old and have been karting for 3.5 years.
Interviewer: What first attracted you to Karting?
Melissa: After trying a hire kart I was hooked, I love the speed and the adrenaline rush you get.
Interviewer: What is it about karting that you enjoy the most?
Melissa: the speed, challenge, competition and the karting community. I have made some amazing friends.
Interviewer: Who inspires you to get on track and succeed?
Melissa: Ryan Norberg, I admire his speed and consistency.
Interviewer: What is your favourite memory on track so far?
Melissa: My first ever win at Woodthorpe was memorable and getting the driver at the weekend at Warden BKC after such a challenging weekend.
Interviewer: Which is your favourite motorsport series you enjoy watching?
Melissa: I enjoy watching F1 and the BTCC.
Interviewer: Who is your favourite all-time racing driver?
Melissa: Colin Turkington, talked to him at GYG, really nice guy.
Interviewer: What is your ultimate ambition you’d like to achieve in motorsport?
Melissa: To win as many races as I can.
Interviewer: And finally, where can we see you racing for the remainder of 2023?
Melissa: I'll be racing at the BKC, IPKC and the Teesside sprint championship.
